VCD Cutter is a very simple tool that can load the DAT video files from VCDs (Video CDs) and let you cut out fragments from these files in a visual manner, while playing them.
Furthermore, during my testing, every time I was hovering the mouse cursor over the video playing area, the program was returning an error message. This didn’t affect the actual cutting process too much, but it was rather annoying. Anyway, this issue could have been caused by system drivers or other components specific only to my computer and it may not bother other users. I’d say it could depend on anyone’s luck.
Other than these, there are no other remarkable drawbacks when it comes to this tool. It also cannot be customized and it doesn’t come with any additional options and features, but it’s free. Furthermore, it’s very lightweight, small, neat, and simple. It won’t consume any remarkable amount of system resources, and it’s also very simple to use, self-explanatory and straightforward.
In conclusion, if you need a tool that lets you cut VCD videos and extract fragments from a DAT video file, then this tool might represent a decent solution. It’s free and very simple, therefore it’s well worth a try.
